What is Foseal (Sevelamer)?
The drug contains a phosphate binding agent which is prescribed to patients with hyperphophataemia (a condition in which phosphate levels in the blood rise abnormally). The medication works by controlling the phosphate absorption process in the blood, thereby lowering the phosphate levels. Cancer patients are prescribed this medication as an adjunct to other medications.
What is the appropriate dosage of Foseal (Sevelamer)?
The capsules have to be consumed orally with food three times a day. The recommended starting dosage should be between 800mg – 1600mg three.
